2011 SHOPPING GUIDE

The Great Lakes region has long been known
for its wonderful scenery, fabulous cities, friendly people
and active, outdoorsy style, but there is another aspect that
the area does wonderfully well and is sure to be high on
everyone’s list of things to do – shopping.

The amazing variety and sheer value-for-money of its
shopping opportunities has become one of America’s
greatest attractions in recent years, and it is something that
is firmly to the fore in the seven Great Lakes states.

You can choose from the glamorous, big-city style of
places like Chicago, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Cleveland
and Minneapolis; the small-scale, more-boutique offerings
of the region’s unique locations such as Amish country
in Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania; the many distinctive
markets, arts and crafts that abound here; the stylish
offerings of big-name stores such as Macy’s and Saks
Fifth Avenue; and the eye-catching bargains of the great,
designer-name outlet stores, which are another stand-out
feature of retail therapy in the USA.

Very often, you will find all five – and more besides –
within a short distance of each other and able to provide a
rich and well-rounded shopping opportunity. And it’s all just
another part of the great Great Lakes experience!
