Welcome to Wisconsin
Wisconsin is a classic mix of European cultures. Bordered on the north by Lake Superior, Lake Michigan to the east and on the west by the great Mississippi River, Wisconsin provides a diversity of seasonal recreation as well as Native and American culture for all seeking a change of pace and an opportunity to experience its wealth of vacation options.
In Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s largest city, you’ll find lakefront music and ethnic festivals, performing arts, professional sports and great shopping. The Milwaukee Art Museum’s recent expansion has garnered international attention. It features a futuristic addition designed by Santiago Calatrava, the world-renowned architect.
Madison, famous for its ideal mix of cosmopolitan atmosphere, urban amenities and natural beauty, is the state capital and home to one of the largest universities in the world.
The Great River Road, a 250-mile roadway along the Wisconsin border of the Mississippi River, is a treasure in countless ways - rich in history, ecology, small-town character, recreation and simply, natural beauty. It's no wonder that the Society of American Travel Writers has named it among the nation's “Ten Best Scenic Drives”. Charming small towns along the river are nestled into majestic bluffs where one can enjoy day or overnight cruises on a paddlewheel boat or just take in the scenery, bird migrations and fall color. And no visit to the Mississippi River is complete without a luncheon cruise on one of three excursion boats; the Julia Belle Swain, La Crosse Queen and the Island Girl.
Come and enjoy the ‘Land of the gathering of the waters’.
